These are metallic elements normally made from steel. The boards have a frame shape and props are arch shaped and their job is to sustain either on their own or combined with the gunited concrete in which they are absorbed to support the underground works, especially the galleries and roofed tunnels. They should be positioned and firmly supported on the floor and their whole perimeter should be in contact with the soil, setting up various sections for the props and frames and even reinforcements. Their choice therefore depends on the surroundings to be supported.
