This is a regulated profession and the shot firer is in charge of preparing, controlling and carrying out all types of surface or underground blastings in accordance with the work's instructions and the occupational health, safety and environmental standards in force. This professional person has to confirm that the place of work is safe. He/she also has to transport, handle and store the different explosives, initiation systems and accessories within the place of work, charge and stem the boreholes, connect the safety fuses in accordance with the shot patterns, fire the explosive charge and finally destroy badly preserved explosives.
