A vertical channel that in underground works or mining connects between the various floors or galleries (internal or blind well) and/or with the outside. The lifting well allows the entrance and exit of workers, equipment, excavating material and/or air for ventilation (vents). Depending on its purpose it will be equipped with lifting gear, ventilation and other items. Ramps that join various levels or between floors (pit mount platform) or non-vertical parts of a lifting well (inclined and mixed wells) are also occasionally called this.
