This machine's initials in English are LHD, standing for ?load-haul-dump', and it is a compactly designed loading vehicle both heightwise and widthwise, so that it adapts to the excavation's gantries and has good manoeuvrability. Using the LHD loaders, the same operator can load with a dipper, transport the load throughout the tunnel and unload at the dumping area, repeating the cycle. The machine is mounted on tyres, it has four-wheel drive and can move forwards and backwards with the same number of speeds, making it adaptable to different types of tracking conditions.
