Hammer drill

A tool/machine that transmits its energy to a cutting tool by percussion at the same time as it spins a rotation movement to avoid it from locking. It can be used manually for shallow drilling; however, while the holes increase in depth, energy has to be exerted on the cutting tool using rocker arms that are free or mounted on drill rigs or on jumbos for large section excavations. Deep down, a lot of the percussion energy is wasted on the drill pipe and it is therefore necessary to place the hammers at the bottom.
