Wide track gauge

This is the impression of the rail cars at the bends producing a pressured slanting support of the rear wheel on the inner rail that tends to increase the width of the track. To compensate this effect the rails have a wide gauge at the bends (e.g. a value of 5 mm for radius curves between 250 and 300 m radius). The rail gauges at bends also have a wide gauge (approximately 3%).
