These are rocks made up from pre-existing rock materials, igneous, metamorphic and sedimentary; a product caused by erosion that has suffered a certain amount of transportation, accumulation, compression and cementing. They also include a certain proportion of biological source materials. Sedimentary rocks make up 5% of the volume of the earth's crusts rocks. Three quarters of the continental's shelves and a little more of the ocean's beds are also covered by sediments.
