Road surface

Upper part of the surfacing that directly supports the stress of traffic. It should specifically support the tangential stresses. This is the area on which traffic circulates. The road surface should have certain characteristics, as follows: - It should be even both crosswise and lengthways, without unevenness or ripples. - It should have a texture restricting vehicle slippage; always in relation with the specific speed predicted for the road at the corresponding section. - It should be waterproof, stopping water from penetrating to the lower pavement's layers and to the formation level.
