Level crossing

A shared crossing point (or with a shared deck) at the same level between the railway line and a track or road. They are especially dangerous circulation points. There are different types of level crossings, depending on the protection available: - Protected by staff. - Protected from the trains crossing by semi-bars that are remotely controlled or controlled by the nearest station. - Protected by luminous signals and automatic acoustics. - Protected by ?STOP' signs. - Crossings situated on private tracks.
