Lay-by

This is the widening of the carriageway for the stopping of vehicles, leaving vehicles to freely travel along the main carriageway without blocking its circulation. It can be used for the provisional parking of vehicles, turistic or scenic areas of interest, public transport and for weighing vehicles. Lay-bys are usually paved and are directly accessed on conventional roads or accessed by means of service roads with change of speed lanes on other roads, so that they never interfere with the traffic's safety.
