The deflection pattern is that produced by a 13 ton load between the twin wheels of a simple double axled lorry's rear axle, measured at a temperature of 20ºC with a Benkelman beam.
It is measured with static (Benkelman beam) and dynamical equipment.
- Characteristic deflection: deflection value that represents the state of the pavement in a homogenous section.
- Deflection Calculation: this is obtained by applying the moisture correction coefficient of the formation level to the characteristic deflection using temperature.
