By-pass

The following are expressions associated with by-passes: - Town by-pass: modernisation work of a road affecting its route and as a consequence avoiding or substituting a route or section of town. - Route by-pass: modernisation work of a ground level or elevated road changing its route by an accumulated length of more than ten kilometres. When performing the work, it is normal to proceed with the provisional modification of the existing road's route to facilitate the work being carried out.
