Dredge

This is either a fixed machine or one that is on a float or hull, for the excavation and extraction of solid materials that make up the sea bed. The most commonly used types are: bucket or elevator dredges, that have a device on a chain from which the elevated articles hang and whose position adjusts at the bottom so that they work consecutively; suction dredges, that have a suction pump whose intake tube is lowered to the sea bed to dredge, disintegrating the material if necessary using pressurised water jets or milling cutters located in the suction head.
