Taps

This is a manual or mechanical tool used to mechanise the external threads of a tube, piping, etc. The tooth-shaped cutting edge features gaps to capture the shavings. Taps are employed to make even spiral slits on cylindrical surfaces, in order to produce screws, bolts and tapped bars. The tap is rotated by means of the tap holder or handshank, which allows it to be turned easily. They are essential accessories.
