Protection of the concrete

In cases in which the concrete could be subjected to physical or chemical actions that might impair certain of its qualities, appropriate preventative measures should be taken, both during the design period and during execution of the work. Protection should take into account not only durability vis à vis chemical or physical attacks, but also corrosion that could affect reinforcements. Special attention should be paid to the concrete cover of main reinforcements and stirrups.
