Mould

The part of the formwork into which the fresh concrete is poured, holding it and giving it shape until it sets and hardens. Moulds may be wooden or metallic. If they are metallic they are usually made on site by joining and mounting different pieces. They may also be manufactured as a single piece via an industrial process, as in the case of moulds made from PVC, fibreglass, silicon, plaster or cardboard waterproofed on the inside, etc. They are classified as ?recoverable' when they may be re-used after having been dismounted, or ?one-off' when they remain stuck to the concrete.
