Fishplate

A flat or unsmooth element, in wood, metal or plastic, used to cover the joints or grooves between two pieces. In formworks, it is employed to safeguard sealing, allowing for dilation between the two pieces; two of equal size should be used in the connections between mortises and strut tenons.
