Concrete curing

A set of measures applied to fresh concrete in order to eliminate the internal tensions produced as it sets. Curing must be executed during setting and in the first few days of hardening so as to avoid the loss of water essential in hydrating the cement. The time required for curing varies in accordance with the characteristics of the concrete, the features of the concreted piece, atmospheric temperature and humidity. The most commonly used curing methods are: - Direct watering. - Use of insulating films. - Application of paint to reflect away the sun's rays. - Use of cements of low hydration heat. - Steam curing.
