Cap

A building material, normally employed to secure the ends of reinforcement beams and surround the perimeter of the reinforcement. It is also employed to make the whole more homogenous and harmonious, and to add to the absorption of horizontal forces. If the cap is made of concrete, it is used in conjunction with a reinforcement of longitudinal rods and stirrups and sets along with the top slab.
