Utilities shaft

A building element, normally ceramic, in a box shape, used to collect waste and interconnect the common horizontal drainage system. It therefore facilitates the connection between sewers, run-off from drainpipes to the horizontal drainage system, changes in network direction, and unblocking of the network. There are three different types of shafts, classified in accordance with their uses: the foot of drainpipe shaft, transition shafts which connect sewers and the siphonic type to prevent bad smells and insects.
