Thermal Resistance

Is a heat property and a measurement of a temperature difference by which an object or material resists a heat flow. In the case of uniform materials it’s the ratio between thickness and thermal conductivity of the material: R = e / λ where "e", is the material thickness (in metres) and "λ", the thermal conductivity expressed in W/mK. As the value of thermal resistance increases the best thermal insulation is the material. Thermal resistance can be expressed as: m2K/W. Total thermal resistance of a structure will be the sum of external resistances (1/he, 1/hi) and internal resistances (R1, R2, R3,… ): Rt = 1/he + 1/hi + R1 + R2 + R3 +... (he, hi values are constant and tabulated values)
