The frequency of a sound, is the number of pressure variations of the sound wave in a second. It is measured in Hertz (Hz), or cycles per second. This way, pure sound is that which has one frequency but more commonly, sound is made up of one main frequency (pitch) and a group of additional frequencies (tone).
