The prevention officers are the workers' representatives with specific duties in occupational hazard prevention matters. They are designated by and between the staff's representatives.
According to the V Collective Agreement of the Construction Sector (art. 148), they must have the specific 70 hours training indicated, validated in the case of having already received the official "higher or intermediate level of prevention of occupational risks" training or "health and safety coordinator" training.
Tasks:
- Collaborate with the Management in improving the preventive action of the company.
- Promote and boost the cooperation among workers in the implementation of the prevention of occupational risks legislation.
- Be consulted by the employer, prior his execution of actions related to art. 33 of Law 31/1995.
- Monitor and control the meeting of the occupational risk prevention requirements.
(art. 35 and 36 of Law 31/1995, the prevention of occupational risks)
It is important not to confuse Prevention officer with the preventive modality through a designated worker.
