The incidence rate is defined as: the connection between the accidents that took place during a period of time and the average amount of people exposed to the hazard during this time.
The frequency and severity rates are, useful for comparing the accident rate on a nationwide, autonomous region or provincial scale and even between different workplaces of the same company. Whereas the average accident duration rate and incidence rate help to identify a company's or workplaces state of safety, depending on which one of these the calculation corresponds.
