The carpal tunnel is a canal or space situated in the wrist through which the finger's flexor tendons and the median nerve pass. Carpal tunnel syndrome is characterised by a group of symptoms (swelling, tingling, numbness, etc. of the hand affected) produced by the compression of the median nerve while passing through the wrist. One of the most common causes of this syndrome is repetitive movements at work.
