The severity index reflects the number of lost days experienced per 1000 hours worked. This rate gives an idea of the medical severity of the injuries caused in accidents. The number of working days lost is the difference between the date of the accident and the date of discharge, counting working days. The date of the accident is not counted as a day lost.
