Executed on the embankment or slope to ensure that geometric measurements comply with the plans.
If the levelled area is high, material will need to be removed to ensure that the foundation does not have lower thickness than required. If the levelled area is low, the difference in thickness must be compensated for, to avoid using extra foundation-laying materials, since these are more expensive than those used for levelling.
This operation is normally performed using motor-graders or backhoes.
