The slope of a gradient.
It is measured as a percentage (%), which means that for every horizontal hundred metres, there is a vertical metrical difference in the level, equivalent to the percentage.
Ascending inclines are represented by a positive sign, and descending ones by a negative sign.
The recommended incline is normally between 4%-7%, since an incline greater than 10-12% has a negative effect on transportation costs, due to vehicles going slower, increased fuel costs and wear and tear of the engine and tyres.
