A machine consisting of a milling cutter-shaped tool, worm screw or disk, which is used for raising low-thickness layers or surfaces. It comes as:
- A self-propelled, tracked or tyred vehicle, or towed: it has a minimum width of a half-lane and includes a horizontal axis milling rotor, capable of pulling up the width and thickness of the existing surface required.
- A machine tool: small-sized, pushed manually, featuring a drum that turns at a high speed and pieces (pics) of steel or widia, that pull up the material as they contact with the surface.
