The water supply is the part of plumbing linking the general network installed on the street with the internal installation of a building. The supply is formed by main pipework and three service valves or keys:
- The intake valve: connection between the pipes of the general water network and the individual branch.
- The manhole key: a valve that turns the water supply on or off without the need to enter the building.
- The general shut-off cock: a valve which allows for the supply of all the plumbing to be cut off.
