Swellants

These are also known as compensators. They are employed to absorb the dilatations and contractions produced in pipes transporting hot water. They are manufactured in calibrations for small diameters of up to 2? in diameter and with brindle irons from 2? in diameter. The most common are the axial type compensators, which feature a stainless steel or bronze hood that absorbs the dilatation of piping. Threads or brindle irons are used to connect them to piping. This type of compensators is the most widely-used, having completely displaced the dilatation cradles.
