When a pipe is cut, especially if a saw arch is employed, burring normally remains on the cut side; that is to say, shavings from the pipe itself. Scrapers are used to eliminate this. A scraper features a triangular steel blade, with sharpened opposite edges, and a grip or transversal handle. When the blade is placed into the end of the pipe and turned the burring is cut.
