A heating boiler is usually also used to heat domestic hot water (D.H.W.). This requires D.H.W. with a copper or stainless steel coil inside to heat the stored water. This coil is known as the interchanger, because it exchanges the cold water from mains supply for its own hot water, and stores it. The exchange belongs to a closed hydraulic ring, heated by a boiler. The boiler also supplies hot water to a further closed ring for the heating.
