File

The file is a steel utensil used for smoothing metal as required. The different types of files are classified in accordance with their shape, grain and size. The length of files is measured in inches. Different types of file exist in accordance with the type of grain: fine, medium-fine and coarse. Files must include a safety handle, which can be wooden or plastic and has to be appropriate to the size of the file.
