Desiphoning

If the drainpipes are very high and they collect waters from different pipe connections and diversions, it is possible for the complete drainpipe section to fill up with water, forming a hydraulic piston. If the hydraulic piston generates a depression or vacuum below itself it is possible for it to empty the siphons, causing a desiphoning due to aspiration. If excess air pressure is produced below the piston, as it escapes from the siphons, breaking the hydraulic closures, this leads to desiphoning due to compression. To avoid these phenomena, as well as foul smells in kitchens and bathrooms, ventilation networks are installed.
