Collectors are horizontal pipes that directly collect water from drainpipes by means of shafts. The slope of collectors must be over 1.5%, and they are fitted below the feed pipes. When they cross through areas of human occupation, they are fitted at a depth of 1.2 m and sheathed. Collectors are manufactured in different materials, although, at present, the PVC type is the most popular. In order to prevent collectors raising sewage water, flooding toilets, and consequently, whole homes, anti-flowback valves must be fitted.
