Calliper

The calliper, also known as a vernier calliper is a measuring tool used to measures small lengths and thicknesses, as well as interior and exterior diameters. It consists of a graduated rule, generally made of steel, which is bent on one end. This bent end constitutes ?the fixed mouth of the calliper'. It normally includes two scales, in millimetres and inches, and is employed by moving a cursor (also called a ?moving mouth'), that alters the opening of the calliper mouth so that very precise interior and exterior measurements can be taken.
