Single element tiling (roofs, arches, etc.)

Always when possible, check the layout of the roof tiling so that the joints and design coincide with those of the vertical facing's tiling. Check that the roof is clean, flat and dry and is in a condition to receive the tiling fixed with a cement-based adhesive. Position cords to determine the alignment and squaring of the first row. The cement-based adhesive mortar is thickly and evenly laid with the notched trowel, and applied by areas of some two metres square as the work advances. An adequate dosage and consistency of lime and cement putty is prepared for the roof tiles. For arches, the pieces are laid out and cut so that they adapt as much as possible to the curved element. The edges of the cut tiles are bevelled getting a good fit to curved elements. The corner chamfers are checked for adequate fitting.
