Shave hook

Used for bricklaying, this is a tool similar to the putty knife made up of a fine steel plate and a handle. Apart from its own scraping function, it can do the putty knives jobs of applying putty, retouching and smoothing lain and roughly gypsum plastered surfaces, it even achieves very diverse raised and irregular textured finishes (scraped or scratched stone gypsum plaster, shaved stucco, etc.). It is also used as a preparatory tool for all paintwork, scraping off previous paints and varnishes. In carpentry it is called the ?trimmer' or ?joiner's scraper' and it is designed to scrape and smooth, pulling off fine wooden chips.
