Receiving arch voussoirs can be done either bare or with a joint, the second being the most usual system due to the difficulty and cost of dressing the voussoirs for bare positioning.
For positioning with a joint, the voussoirs are arranged either directly over the centre or settled over two pairs of wedges. The receiving of the voussoir's joints can be made by the full joint settling procedure or by poured joints.
The fixing of the voussoirs in their exact position should be checked during the whole of the arch's setting up process.
