Plastic float

This tool, used by the plasterer, serves to apply the gypsum plaster to surfaces for covering. It is made up of a thin wooden or plastic board or slightly rectangular plate with a handle made from the same material. It comes in different shapes and sizes and is also known as ?float finisher' or ?plasterer's trowel'. The gypsum plaster is collected from the trough with the trowel and placed on the float ready for spreading. If one drives some nails into one end, it becomes a scraper or ?rake' used to go over the first layer of gypsum plaster before this hardens therefore preparing the surface for applying the next layer of gypsum plaster.
