Metal square notched trowel

This is called a trowel or ?plane' and is a tool made up of a rectangular iron or tempered steel plate of some 300 x150 mm, or 200x110 mm in size and a large handle or grip. The edges of this plate form an angle allowing better access to partition and ceiling corners. It is one of the most used tools in plaster work (trimming and plastering), rough casting or in the rendering of vertical and horizontal facades. The square notched trowel, variant of the common trowel, normally has two notched rows to make grooves on an extended surface for decoration purposes once plastered. It also serves to spread the ?cement-based adhesive' to the facades and on the paving so that once spread, the notched rows are used to make grooves on the surface for it to accept the flagstones and the tiles.
