Making mortar

A mortar mixture is made by mixing binders, sand and water. Depending on the components, the mixture can have different names. The mixture is called ?putty' if the binder is only mixed with water, if it is a more liquid substance then it is called ?grout' and when the mortar has thick aggregate added, the mixture is called ?cement'. The preparation of mortar can be carried out by manual or mechanical mixing.
