Cross cut chisels

A carpentry and joinery instrument, similar to the ?firmer chisel' but wider at the mouth and not so thick. It is a manual cutting tool made from an alloy cast iron bar with a cutting horizontal edged end and a wooden or plastic handle, which is used to work and cut wood. It is also called a ripping chisel. Occasionally, the force made by the user is sufficient to make the cuts; however, at other times, it is necessary to turn to a mallet to hit the head of the cross cut chisel. There are various sizes and the width of the cross cut chisel varies between 4 and 40 mm. Its edges are bevelled and the angle of the edge varies between 25-40º, depending on the type of wood worked.
