Bush hammering facings

This consists in working the stone with the bush hammer or pick, or with the heavy textured bush hammer fitted to the pneumatic hammer. The manual bush hammer is used for flattening and evening irregularities in the stone once worked with the point and pickaxe. If it is applied on sawn surfaces, the effect is to the contrary, giving a rough aspect. The true function of the mechanical bush hammer is to prepare the surface for polishing, although it is now used to the contrary, in other words, to imitate the cut achieved with the manual bush hammer on sawn stones that look too flat.
