A watertight layer used to prevent transfer of water vapour.
For vapour barriers, very thin products are normally employed (usually polyethylene or aluminium films, Kraft papers, etc.). They are either fixed to insulation material or set independently from the same.
A product is defined as a vapour barrier when its resistance to water vapour diffusion is equal to or greater than 10 MN ?s/g, Sd value equal to or greater than 1.8 m. It is placed, if needed, on the hot side of the enclosures.
