Anchorage for underground works

A ground support technique that means introducing and fixing a lineal element in the ground the same as the concrete reinforcements, which works by traction and which can be designed to mobilise its resistance only when the ground moves, such as when the ground is compressed by a preload. This stress is exerted either by the anchoring element's shaft rubbing against the ground or by a joining element at the end deeply bored into the rock where it has sufficient resistance to support the anchorage. In underground works this job is carried out by anchor bolts.
