Proctor test

The infrastructure's ground layers should be compacted to avoid them settling under the action of the loads supported, adjusting the energy and type of compaction, the ground's moisture and the layers' thickness to reach a compaction degree. The Proctor test standardises the compaction conditions, checking at the end of the process the dry density obtained with samples of various moisture content and obtaining the dry-moisture/density content curve, whose maximum reveals the degree of moisture for optimum compaction. A variation of the test that uses 4,5 times more compaction energy is known as the ?modified Proctor'.
