Pedestrian pavement

Raised or un-raised longitudinal area of the road destined for pedestrian transit where the circulation of vehicles is prohibited. These are normally paved in concrete or ceramic stoneware, are raised and separated from the carriageway by a 15 cm kerb, are inclined towards the carriageway by 1-2% for surface drainage, and have a channel continually passing beside it with drains at intervals that are connected to the drainage or sanitation network. It should be a minimum of one and a half metres wide so that two people walking along it may pass.
