Admixture

A bonding agent to which water is added. It requires a setting process but does not transfer heat. In building, it is used to form pastes known as mortars or concretes. Plaster, lime and cement are amongst the most widely-used admixtures. Portland cement is the most widely-used admixture in making concretes, and it is produced by the calcination of prepared and dosed blends of loams, limestone, plaster, slag and pozzolan. Different types, classes and categories of cement are obtained depending on the number of components and the proportions used in the mix.
